After my last posting, I received another less encouraging call from our caseworker. She wanted me to know that despite the revised statement by the ministry in Rwanda, the Rwandan Embassy was still turning dossiers away today. In fact, I was told that a woman jumped on a plane from Texas to hand deliver her dossier to the Embassy and was turned away. We were given the option of choosing our next steps but advised that it might be wise to just give up. I wasn’t ready to give up quite yet, but as I was at work and completely overwhelmed, I had Matt call our caseworker back to make that decision.
Man, that sweet husband of mine made me proud today. Despite the risks, he decided that after this crazy journey we have traveled thus far, he didn’t want to slam the doors on this adoption quite yet. We have been trusting in God for a miracle this long, why not continue to trust Him while there is still a small glimmer of hope? And so he decided to go for the miracle and to proceed full steam ahead until the door to Rwanda is shut once and for all.
Meanwhile, our courier brought the official revised statement on the Ministry’s website to the attention of an Ambassador at the Rwandan Embassy. It seems as though there has been a huge lack of communication between the Ministry in Rwanda and the Embassy in D.C., resulting in much confusion among everyone involved. Ultimately, the Ambassador stated that he would call the Minister in Rwanda directly and will comply with what she says to do.
Pray:
– that our dossier, which is currently being FedExed from New York to DC, would safely arrive to our courier tomorrow
– that the U.S. Department of State would efficiently authenticate our dossier on Monday… Tuesday at the absolute latest
– that the Minister in Rwanda would set the Rwandan Embassy straight and let them know how imperative it is that they accept new dossiers until Tuesday.
– that the Rwandan Embassy would show us favor and would accept our dossier on Tuesday (August 31st)
Sure, for all of this to work out would require a miracle. But I am confident that my God is capable of that and so much more.
