anticipation

Well, I’m still here and Mary Grace is still happily in utero. I will say, though, that yesterday afternoon offered a small glimmer of hope that maybe she will make her appearance in this lifetime after all. I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions for months now, but yesterday afternoon they picked up and were occurring every 3-6 minutes for a couple hours. I eventually called the doctor on call who urged me to “lie down in a quiet, calm room” for an hour. I laughed because at that very moment I was kicking a soccer ball back and forth with Carson in the yard. Nothing with a 20 month old little boy is ever, ever quiet and calm. After a mad rush to vacuum, iron, and cook dinner, I finally settled down some and the contractions calmed as well. I must admit- I was praying that they would continue and become more painful so that we could get this show on the road, but I guess God had different plans. We’ll just see how today goes, as I’ll be on my feet with the sickies at work all day. Come onnnnn, Mary Grace!!
