I simply cannot resist. After catching some of The Today Show this morning, I was so horrified by one particular story that I just have to let all of the world (or at least the few people who read this blog) know that I think Perez Hilton is absolutely ridiculous (a stronger word came to mind, but I will be nice here).
So, for those of you who missed it, the Miss USA pageant aired Sunday night. The buzz throughout the media since then has been the question that was asked of Miss California, Carrie Prejean, by openly gay Perez Hilton. When asked about her stance on same sex marriages, Prejean did not even hesitate as she answered, “I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.” Many now believe that this politically incorrect answer cost her the crown.
So, here comes the part that just drives me up the wall. In an interview with Matt Lauer this morning, Perez Hilton went on and on about how “Miss USA represents all Americans… Miss USA is not a person that is alienating. Miss USA is not a person that is politically incorrect… I want someone who is going to be politically savy and that means saying things that make everyone feel welcome. Like for example, I don’t want her talking about JesusJesusJesus because that’s offensive.”
PuhLEEZE!!
How telling of the mentality of American society today is this statement? So, essentially Hilton wants these women to just rattle off generic, heartless statements that just make everyone feel good about themselves. And if you dare say anything that wavers from the liberal political correctness, well forget about being able to represent your good values to the world as Miss USA. Oh, and mention the name of Jesus?? You might as well be banishing all other non- Christians from existence.
Sorry, this fires me up. Just ask Matt who was accosted with my views in his drowsy state this morning.
Carrie Prejean told Lauer that “For me, it was just about being Biblically correct.” To Fox News, she remarked, “This happened for a reason. By having to answer that question in front of a national audience, God was testing my character and faith. I’m glad I stayed true to myself.”
Well, Miss California. You may not have woken up this morning with a Miss USA crown on your nightstand, but I can bet you that God has much greater things planned for you.

I watched the show too…she should’ve won. NC certainly didn’t give the brightest answer.
you go, girl. i wish she could read your blog!
I, too, almost fell off the treadmill at the gym when I saw that interview. Would it have made everyone feel better if she lied in front of the nation, just for the sake of being politically correct? I don’t think so…
