Just a little update on what’s happening on the adoption front. In short, not too much..which is almost worse than extreme busyness for me. The way I see it, the busier I am, the more factors I have to try to control. Obviously not the best mindset to have, but I am a work in a progress. Anyway, here’s where we stand:
- Our home study is hanging out at Gladney, awaiting final approval. Once that happens, a copy will be sent to Citizenship and Immigration Services. They will then contact us with an appointment date for fingerprinting. Then we wait on more paperwork from USCIS stating that we’re clear to bring an orphan home with us.
- Another bonus of having our home study nearly complete is that we will soon be able to apply for adoption grants. I have heard mixed reviews on the true availability of these grants these days, but we’re willing to try.
- Speaking of grants, I have been granted the opportunity to pick up an extra day of work this summer to help with some of the adoption costs. While I have been whining and complaining and whining some more about “having” to work so much, I realize that I pretty much have the best job (outside of the home) in the world. My boss allows me to work as much or as little as I want, and I am fully aware that this is not a common occurrence, especially in health care.
- We have officially hired a dossier service to help with some of the particularly burdensome aspects of compiling our dossier. Everyone has said that the money spent on these services are worth every penny, and I am willing to shell out a little extra dough if it’s going to save me (and therefore my husband) a lot of stress.
- I am 99.9% sure that we have decided on a name for our baby boy!
- We’re brainstorming additional ideas for fund raising. Any and all ideas are welcome, please and thank you!
I think that’s it for now. Moving slowly, but moving. Continue to keep us in your prayers- we can feel them!
