I would be completely remiss if I kept this to myself…

Brace yourselves, parents. I have found the secret to correcting sleep issues in young, sleepless, cranky kids.

A $50 clock! The Tot Clock to be precise.

I know, I know. You’re skeptical, and so was I. But our household has been far more peaceful and far less sleep deprived since this little piece of heaven arrived on our doorstep about a month ago. We had been dealing with some major sleep problems for a while with Carson. It started with his inability to settle down and fall asleep at night. The joys continued as he would consistently awaken between 4:30 and 5am every. single. morning. In a terrible, rotten mood, have you.

I had tried everything. Regular digital alarm clocks. Behavior charts. Ditching naptime. Later bedtimes. And I read every book out there. Nothing worked. Nada. And then came my crazy desperate google search… which time and time again turned up the Tot Clock.

Really, the concept is simple. The face of the clock turns different colors based on the time of day. Time to sleep? The clock is blue. Alright to wake? It’s yellow. There are other bells and whistles, but that’s the basic gist of it. Simple or not, it works! Carson now sleeps (or at least stays in bed) until 6:25am. And that, my friends, has changed my life. Yes, this is still a relatively early wake up call, but it’s a whole heck of a lot better than what we were previously dealing with.

So, dear Tot Clock, you rock. I was pretty much certain that I would have to put your money back guarantee to use, but no way jose. You have been worth every single penny, and I’m not letting you out of my sight. Or out of my son’s bedroom at least.

(And no, I do not work for Tot Clock, nor are they cutting me a check for my copious praises of their product. However, if they feel so compelled, I would gladly take an extra off of their hands for Child Numero Dos. 🙂 )

  1. Hilarious! We bought the "goodnight lite" for Samuel a while back. Same concept, except ours is a moon and changes to a sun. We have told him he can't come out of is room until he sees the sun. And I am pretty sure he waitches it until it changes and then screams for us to get him. We really need to get these crazy boys together!

  2. Um…I have never heard of that but I'm pretty sure it would change my life too! Thanks for posting about that. My son is an early riser too. Yay!

  3. I tried to buy one a few months ago and they won't mail to Canada, would you believe it?!?! Because we are sooooo far North or something;) If anyone does order one I would be eternally grateful if you would be willing to stick one in the mail for me? I can send money through PayPal… I wake at 5 to work and now that little man does too, I can't get much work done! Afraid to wake up any earlier, or he will too.
