Two of my favorite baby gifts came from Jenny, one of my fabulous friends from my 2004 Kenya trip. Here, we see Carson modeling one of the adorable gifts… an elephant onesie (which pairs quite nicely with his super preppy plaid shorts, I must add). She also gave him the cutest book ever which carries with it quite a bit of sentamentality. It’s about a Maasai father reaffirming his love to his young son, all while referencing the beautiful Maasai culture. Jenny is one of the few individuals who I have stood next to while watching elephants graze in the wild, and there are not many friends who can say they have celebrated the birth of a baby with traditional Maasai dancing, but I hope and pray that my son will come to know and love the African culture and people as much as his parents do.

  1. What a cute little man he is! Mine used to be that size. Now, he’s 3. Caution: They grow up FAST!

  2. I am so glad that Carson models so well what I consider the cutest onesie ever made (from organic cotton too!). I love that Maasai book and could NOT pass it up! Adorable!
