As my household slumbers on this beautiful Saturday morning, I thought I would take the opportunity to share a few updates in the Allison household…

1. The fact that I am even sitting here in front of the computer this morning leads me into my first update. I was scheduled to work today but have been put “on call” from 7:30am until 8pm. In the world of pediatrics, things start slowing down somewhat this time of year as the months of the big, bad sicknesses have more or less passed. What this means for me is that fewer nurses are needed on my unit, and I spend more days on call. Due to frustration of having to sit around in my scrubs waiting for the off chance that I would be called into work at a moment’s notice along with the fact that I would not be there much longer anyway, I put in my four week’s notice last week. Matt, of course, was very supportive of this, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to be a stay at home mom for just a couple more months… which acts as an excellent segue to update #2…

2. I had my two interviews on Wednesday, and I was very pleased with how the day went. I found my way to both interviews without difficulty (well, I did have to stop to ask for directions once… or twice…) and was quite impressed with both locations. The obligatory post-interview thank you notes have been sent, and now I am just waiting to hear something back. Reflecting back on my whirlwind day of interviews, I think one of my better quotes had to have been my proclamation that “I don’t do big people” in explaining my passion for caring for children rather than adults. Only in the world of pediatrics would such a statement be wholeheartedly understood and agreed upon.

3. Carson is getting a tooth. And is getting bigger by the day. And obviously is cuter than ever. But is still waking up quite a bit at night to eat (hence the previous statement about his growth).

4. My sister, brother in law, and their youngest son are in NYC this weekend celebrating Colin’s 30th birthday, leaving their first born,Will, in my parent’s care. As I ran around with him yesterday and took in the excitement and energy that oozes out of his two year old self, I had a blast and caught a glimpse of how our lives will be looking in a matter of just a few years.

I could probably think of a few more updates, but the baby has awoken and is smakin’ his lips. No surprise there.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
