Who knew that my four years in Greek life at William and Mary could benefit my husband’s future endeavors at seminary? Matt will be starting Greek this fall, and we’re both a bit nervous, as he is taking a ton of credits on top of working and… oh yeah… having another baby. It’s going to be a wild ride, but one of his professors gave him the advice to go ahead and get a jump start on things by learning the Greek alphabet. Easy peasy.

As soon as he started to tell me this, memories of sorority rush started flooding my head. Sorority girls are known for their strange rituals and songs, and KKG was no exception. All throughout rush, every group of rushees was eventually escorted out of our house with a raucous rendition of our very own Greek Alphabet song. I have sung that song more times than I would like to count, and because of that, the foundations of the Greek language are now engrained in my brain. Now, my seminarian husband will benefit. Perhaps I should hold tutorial sessions down there for his seminary friends at Campbell.
