I have some thoughts regarding several current affairs, and I thought that I would share…
1. Politics
After Super Tuesday, I just don’t know what to think. I still stand by my previous statement that I am not a huge fan of any presidential candidate, and I am not thrilled with the direction our nation might head if most of these candidates take office. For instance, McCain had a particularly victorious day on Tuesday, but I do strongly disagree with his stance on a number of issues – namely, his support of embryonic stem cell research and his opposition to a ban of same-sex marriages.
Dr. James Dobson (whose wise words practically raised me into the individual I am today) has said:
“But what a sad and melancholy decision this is for me and many other conservatives. Should Senator McCain capture the nomination as many assume, I believe this general election will offer the worst choices for president in my lifetime. I certainly can’t vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama based on their virulently anti-family policy positions. If these are the nominees in November, I simply will not cast a ballot for president for the first time in my life.”
This thought has entered my mind, yet if Hillary is on the ballot this year, I still plan to be one of the first in line to vote against her.
(Note: I was about to copy and paste a picture of Hillary looking particularly sinister here, but I thought that it might not be very Christ-like of me.. but know that I was tempted… very very tempted)
2. Weather
I don’t mean to point out the obvious, but it has been ridiculously warm here the past two days. While opening all of the windows in our house has been nice, and Lord knows I needed some fresh air, I do pity my neighbors who have had to hear every screech and cry of
3. William and Mary
Thomas Jefferson is probably rolling in his grave if he only knew what’s been going down at his glorious alma mater. First, the cross was removed from the Wren Chapel to avoid offending those of other religions (hellooo, you’re attending a college founded on Christian ideals- if you can’t get over the fact that there is a cross in a CHAPEL, then go to another college)… then we had to remove the feathers from the W&M logo, as to not offend Native Americans… and on Monday of this week, the second oldest college in the nation hosted a “sex workers art show”, funded by the student activity funds and featuring strippers and porn stars. I guess President Nichols wasn’t worried about offending people this time around.
I could go on, but
